So new Year is nearly here and one of the most popular things people decide to do is to join the gym. Well I can tell you that it’s pointless. Joining a gym is boring and after a few months you will give up.
Lets look at the costs of some gym memberships:
- Fitness First £45 – £70 a month = £540 – £840 a year
- David Lloyd £70-85 a month = £840 – £1,020 a year
And that’s before you pay out for the gym gear to work out in.
A better option is to try something like:
- Xbox 360 with kinect
- Nintendo Wii with Wii fit
You can get an Xbox 360 with kinect for under £300 and will give you hours of fun in your own home. Even better for an extra £50 you can get EA Active Sports 2, which will give you a heart rate monitor and a 9 week workout program, with plenty of activities that will get you up and running.
The Wii will cost you around £160 and £75 for the Wii fit plus. This will also give you plenty of hours of fun for all the family and help you keep track of your progress and overall weight loss.
Nintendo Wii _ Wii Fit plus
Total cost from around £235 (extra controllers may be purchased)
Advantages are that you can weigh yourself on the Wii Fit.
Disadvantage is that the board can be restricting, but works very well with the controllers to monitor your full work out.
Xbox 360 with Kinect
Total cost from under £300 (£350 including EA sports Active) to be fully up and running.
Advantages are that it will monitor your full workout totally wireless and will track your every movement. Including your heart rate to track how well you are doing.
EA Sports Active is also available for the Wii.
